Hand stitched wool applique can look really great, but for some people who have to work around challenges (like arthritis in my case), the hand stitching can be really difficult. That shouldn't stop you from enjoying the many great wool applique projects that are available. So in today's video we'll be introducing a hand wool applique block of the month from Wonderfil that I'm going to be stitching and quilting by machine instead. This first episode, we'll start creating a stitch library that will help us pick machine techniques that will make a great substitute for hand stitches. Then I'll do each block as a stitch-along project in a series of upcoming videos. This should really be fun. I'm looking forward to this, and I hope you all are as well, so stay tuned! • Disclaimer: This video is not sponsored, and Wonderfil isn't helping produce these videos, but they did sell me the project kit at a discount. Also, the supplies I have listed below for this stitch library are Amazon affiliate links. If you use them to purchase your supplies, I will get a small amount, but it will not increase your costs. Nevertheless, these are my favorites for this kind of work. • • Materials: • • A pack of precut felt sheets with a little wool: https://amzn.to/3xb6i9u • 2 yards Pellon SF101 interfacing: https://amzn.to/4a1aiHW • Note to 12 weight Spagetti cotton thread: https://amzn.to/4a6eOF7 • A pack of dental floss threaders: https://amzn.to/4cCQ8G7 • 100/16 topstitch needles: https://amzn.to/3x7TG2M • Decobob 80 wt for the bobbin: https://amzn.to/3VvKAaa • Tailor's awl or stiletto: https://amzn.to/4b3CFoU • My website: https://bjfabricartist.com/ • My blog: https://bjfabricartist.com/blog • The music in my videos comes from Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/ • Table of Contents • ------------------------------------------------------------------ • Chapters: • 00:35 Intro • 02:30 Preparing the sheets • 03:40 Setting up your machine • 06:10 A word on thread tension • 07:00 Testing stitches • 14:33 Keeping the stitch library together • 14:58 Conclusion
