Aquatopia is an attraction at Tokyo DisneySea theme park in Japan. Situated in the Port Discovery section of the park, it is the second of only four attractions in the world that uses a trackless ride system designed by Walt Disney Imagineering. • The ride comprises of approximately three dozen vehicles designed to appear like personal water hovercrafts, which move independently from one another at steady speeds through a large water lagoon, as shown in the video ride review. The water in the lagoon is approximately 5 cm (2 inches) deep, as the vehicles actually slide along the shallow floor on wheels. Water is continued moving to produce the illusion of depth, and occasional funnel drains give the appearance of forbidding whirlpools. Like the older attractions it is inspired by, Aquatopia is self-guided. Due to the ride technology, there are no visible tracks, giving the sense of spontaneous and surprise to the attraction. • There are two sides to the lagoon, which you board from a central boarding platform. During the summer, one side becomes a wet course while the other is the dry course .
