An Overview Of My Foley Belsaw M14 Circular Sawmill With Ford Engine

Here is an overview of my newly purchased Foley Belsaw M14 circular sawmill with hydraulic controls. • • I sold my 44ft long manually operated Foley Belsaw a while back and used some of the money to pay bills and some of it to buy the materials for our fence. Then I saved half of the money for a new sawmill. I wanted a bandsaw mill but they are all sold out until the end of summer due to the lumber shortage and high prices. • • I have many projects that need lumber so I could not wait around any longer. When I found this sawmill for the exact amount of money that I had on hand, I felt that it was meant to be and got it. • • This is a 30 ft long Foley Belsaw M14 model which has been heavily modified to run on hydraulics. This is a more modern version of the M14 though with a more complex carriage mechanism. • • The previous owner put a hydraulic log lifter on the mill which allows me to easily lift logs onto the mill with the press of a button. He also put air dogs on which allows me to lift and raise the dogs (log clamps) with the push of a button. And he set up the carriage to be push button adjustable. The only thing that is still manual is the carriage drive, which is all belt controlled. • • There is an old Ford straight 6 engine with transmission to power it all. There is an air compressor for the dogs and a hydraulic pump for the rest of the system. • • This is a really awesome sawmill. • • Thanks for watching.
