Hi guys, • This is my first independent documentary on Kuthampully weavers, a weaving community near Bharathapuzha in Thrissur district. And it is a peculiar story of their origin, culture and traditions. • The traditional kerala saree, settu mundu and dhoti are instantly identified by their unique drape and borders.It is impossible to find a single house without a throw shuttle pitloom,aaccording to them weaving is a community activity. • Kuthampully weavers actually have their roots in Mysore and their 500 year old story explains their transition to Kerala, says that the ruler of Cochin invited these Devanga community to become the official weavers of the royal family. And they settled here near the banks of Nila.
