Remember this place? I've been here before and I really wanted to explore this motor room, but failed. • I'm back and this time I'm in, and up the ladder - WHAT A CLASSIC! This means I understand the technology in use here and (as you'll see in the next video) I understand some of the relay logic that makes it work. I understand how the call buttons work - it's a latching relay circuit. On this lift, the relay coil is normally energised by pressing the call buttons in the lift car, then the electromagnet holds the relay on via some of the relay contacts (i.e. a latching relay). • I'm not out of my comfort zone as I understand what I am doing and I've done it many times before (even with a lift engineer present!). • I'm not in this motor room to cause any problems or faults, it's simply an interest that others also find interesting. • When these lifts are finally modernised, away goes the history, lost forever.
