Vienna's museums are home to some very special treasures. A unique feather headdress from the time of the Aztecs, world-famous artworks, and a small, very old girl. You can see six of these very special museum treasures in this video. • #MuseumTreasures #PenachoDeMoctezuma #WeltmuseumWien #YoungHare #AlbrechtDürer #Albertina #SelfPortraitWithLampionFruits #EgonSchiele #LeopoldMuseum #TheTowerOfBabel #KHM #KunsthistorischesMuseumWien #MuseumOfFineArtsVienna #TheKiss #GustavKlimt #Belvedere #UpperBelvedere #VenusOfWillendorf #NHM #NaturalHistoryMuseumVienna #Vienna #Museum • • Topics of this video: • 0:00 Intro • 0:30 Penacho de Moctezuma in the Weltmuseum Wien • 0:51 The Young Hare by Albrecht Dürer in the Albertina • 1:11 Self-portrait with Lampion Fruits by Egon Schiele in the Leopold Museum • 1:30 The Tower of Babel in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien • 1:52 The Kiss by Gustav Klimt in the Belvedere • 2:17 Venus of Willendorf in the Naturhistorisches Museum Vienna • • #1 Penacho de Moctezuma in the Weltmuseum Wien: Our first museum treasure has found its home after a centuries-long journey in the Weltmuseum Wien (World Museum Vienna). The Penacho de Moctezuma, the feather crown of Moctezuma, is the only artifact of its kind still in existence. The headdress was first mentioned in 1596 as part of a collection of a Tyrolean prince. The feather crown came to Vienna at the beginning of the 19th century. • Read more about the Weltmuseum Wien https://www.wien.info/en/sightseeing/... • #2 The Young Hare by Albrecht Dürer in the Albertina: The most famous nature study by the Nuremberg painter Albrecht Dürer is the Young Hare from the year 1502. This painting has since found a new home in the Albertina, where it is considered to be the most prominent exhibition piece. However, visitors only get to see a copy. The picture, which is over 500 years old and painted with watercolors, needs very special protection. The original is stored in the Albertina's deep store and only very rarely shown. • Read more about the Albertina https://www.wien.info/en/sightseeing/... • #3 Egon Schiele, Self-portrait with Lampion Fruits, in the Leopold Museum: Egon Schiele painted this self-portrait at the height of his creative activity in 1912, which was a very productive year for him. At the tender age of 22, Schiele left nothing to chance in this painting. Each stroke of this work was precisely considered. He was very self-aware, knew exactly how talented he was. Yet he had a highly sensitive and fragile personality. He impressively managed to present these apparently opposing character traits in this self-portrait. • #4 The Tower of Babel in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien: The Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien houses one of the biggest masterpieces of the Renaissance. Pieter Bruegel attempted several times to portray the biblical Tower of Babel. His most famous work can now be found in Vienna. • Read more about the Kunsthistorisches Museum https://www.wien.info/en/sightseeing/... • #5 The Kiss by Gustav Klimt in the Belvedere: When one thinks of Gustav Klimt, one usually thinks of his most famous work, The Kiss. This masterpiece of Vienna Modernism, an important epoch in art history, achieved world fame far beyond Austria's borders. Unsurprisingly, The Kiss is the greatest highlight in the Upper Belvedere. • Read more about the Upper Belvedere https://www.wien.info/en/sightseeing/... • #6 Venus of Willendorf in the Naturhistorisches Museum Vienna: Small, but impressive! The Venus of Willendorf is just 11 cm tall. Which made the discovery of this find in the Wachau, Lower Austria, in 1908 all the more important. We know now that the figure must be 29,500 years old. It thus bears witness to the beginning of our culture. Its actual purpose remains a mystery to this day. However, the little Venus is most frequently referred to as a symbol of fertility. • • Read more about museum treasures in Vienna: https://www.wien.info/en/sightseeing/... • //// • Music: Epidemic Sound • • //// • • Credits: • Presenter: Adia Trischler • Idea Concept: UNIT http://www.unit.co.at • Skript: Stefan Schlager • Producer: Alex Haberfellner • Camera: Bernhard Popovic • Editing Animation: Thomas Scharf • Colors: 61 colorgrading, http://www.61.co.at • Audio: Overdub, Gregor Rašek • Produced by UNIT • //// • To be sure not to miss anything subscribe to our channel / vienna • Find all info about Vienna at http://www.vienna.info • Viennas Facebook Account: / viennatouristboard • Vienna twitters at: / viennainfob2b • Vienna's Instagram Account: / viennatouristboard
