Welcome to my review of the Power Dash [パワーダッシュ] Red Turbo Machine [レッドターボマシン] from Kousoku Sentai Turboranger [高速戦隊ターボレンジャー]. • I have a little bit of a love-hate relationship with 80s Sentai Mecha. I never really thought a lot of them were worth the money they were selling for years ago...let alone the 1000USD+ price tags some of them command now. Not everyone is me, though, and might be interested in at least getting a starter collection of 80s Sentai Mecha. There are options! Some of them can even go sub-10USD like the Power Dash Turbo GT [ターボGT] (or Red Turbo Machine as Bandai calls it) that I will be looking at today. Is it worth starting small...or should you swing for the fences? • Power Dash Turbo GT comes with a set of horrifying looking bumpers that clip to the underside of the car. The gimmick to this car is to have a bump-and-go feature once the front license plate frame is pulled outward. Man, does thing go when it's on. Good luck catching it. • I kinda like the idea that there are a few stand-alone car toys from the Turboranger line. Maybe there aren't enough options in the toyline (Carranger definitely did a better job...and Go-onger I suppose) but you can still find a couple different non-DX vehicles with some kind of function. This one has a crazy motor that sends the car speeding away and bouncing off walls and pets. • Full disclosure...I probably would've hated getting this toy as a gift as a kid. I never really liked the bump-and-go type thing that cars like this have. Even from a young age I was more interested in how cars worked and how they were driven. A real car wouldn't be bouncing off walls and down steps like they were a mild inconvenience! I also kinda wish they would've done a better job on the sculpt. The DX Turbo GT is probably the best looking of all the toy versions...and that one also had to handle the task of transforming. Oh yes...and there was no way I was going to attach the bumpers to this thing. They looked pretty awful in the instructions...I just couldn't bear to do it. • If you're on a budget and absolutely need to get something from Turboranger, this is what you'll likely end up with. I don't know what the DX Chogokin Turborobo goes for these days...or even what I got mine for since I've had it forever...but I would really try your best to save up for one of those. Even that one managed to have some decent looks and rubber tires. I'm personally not a fan of any of the Turboranger mecha toys, but DX Chogokin is the only way to go. • Thank you for watching my videos in 2015. December is coming up next week! To mark the end of the year I will be uploading a secret video every week (you won't even find them on the schedule on my blog). All of them are very interesting toys...one of them is guaranteed to blow you away (I've been sitting on it for years!). Stay tuned! • Be sure to check out my blog.
