Jordan and Veronica with Smith House Company used Andersen E Series windows in their Panhandle Farmhouse Build. • The Andersen E Series sits at the top of the Andersen line as part of the Architectural Series. These windows have the most design options and can be made to nearly any custom size and shape. The trim options are fully customizable as well. • The divide lights consist of grills on both sides of the glass as well as a spacer in between the glass. This improves the windows appearance by mimicking the true divided glass of the past, instead of cheaply applied grills only on one or both sides of the glass. • Although the look is more traditional, these are high performance windows with a U factor of .30 and a low emissivity coating to reduce the solar gain in the hot Texas summers. • Smith House prefers tight locking windows to ensure good air and weather sealing for as long as possible. Casements are a great way of incorporating operable windows into a design while maintaining a tight seal. Make sure you understand the effects of window screens when designing a bank of operable and inoperable windows. Screens will darken the windows when present, and will highlight the difference between the operable and inoperable windows.
