QUEEN • Tour: A Day At The Races // Leg 1: North America • Venue: Seattle Center Arena • City: Seattle, Washington, USA • Date: March 13th, 1977 • The final US date of the North American 'A Day At The Races' tour brings Queen to Seattle for the second time ever. Despite us still having three more nights to complete this North American tour leg, this is the final recorded night of the leg, featuring two fantastic recordings taped quite close to each other. This one is the older (in terms of release) of the two, being featured in the legendary Jon Wizardo's tape collection. A pre-LP copy has never made the rounds, and this recording misses 'Tie Your Mother Down' entirely, as well as missing most of the stage banter and pauses between songs. Recent findings have pretty much confirmed 'See What A Fool I've Been' was performed tonight, likely being the song's final performance overseas, and the penultimate overall, but both sources cut out after the Rock 'N Roll Medley. • Despite being the third show in a row, Freddie pulls through and delivers quite a decent show, he's definitely not as strong as he was back in Inglewood, but this is still probably his second or third best show of the month (maybe this is just more of a testiment to how weak NA Races Freddie was). He still strains and struggles with sustaining notes above G4 as usual for the leg, with his nodules being in full swing in comparison to Toledo or Inglewood. Some pretty interesting details heard clearly tonight are Brian trying out a studio harmony during 'Somebody To Love', loud and clear harmonies from Deacy during the same song; and Queen trying out their cover of Elton John's 'Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting' for the third known time (College Park and 3/3 Inglewood are the earlier two) during the (insanely fantastic) Rock 'N Roll Medley. • Sources: • -Audience Recording (A-/A) (Jon Wizardo) • Merge of two versions (The Real Wizard) • 1.
