2022 Viking River Cruise - The Rhine Getaway - which included a 2-day pre-extension in Amsterdam as well as a 2-day post-extension in Lucerne. In Amsterdam, we stayed at the Movenpick Hotel Amsterdam, City Centre (a good location to walk into the City). In Lucerne, we stayed at the Radison Blu Hotel, Lucerne (Fantastic location - close to shops; restaurants; and city buses). Our Viking ship was the Tialfi. The ship was at 68% of passenger capacity. A week out from our embarkation, rain was forecasted every day of our cruise (watch to see how it turned-out). • We HIGHLY recommend visiting Amsterdam in late April - so you can visit Kuekenhof Gardens (which is only open 4 weeks a year); If the Top-of-Cologne Cathedral Tour is unavailable, see DomForum Tours (offices right across from the Cathedral square) for an inexpensive (10 euros p/p), yet highly informative English speaking tour of the Cathedral (which will take you into 1 to 2 areas restricted to typical walk-in visitors); the Heidelberg Highlights Lunch is also recommended; the included Black Forest tour is little more than a trip to trinket shops (although the drive there is very pretty); Colmar in WWII (Breisach) is fantastic for all WWII buffs (especially if you are fortunate enough to have Angie as your guide); and the Pearls of Switzerland tour (Lucerne) is not to be missed!!! • Feel free to ask any questions... • UPDATE, MAY 2023: After one full year, and 16,438 views, SME (Sony) decided to block this video from public view. So, the elevator muzak found at the end of the Kuekenhof segment is due to that copyright issue (would have been nice to know when we uploaded it from the start, so we could have used something else).
