Model Railroad Bench Work 🔥 • More model train tips at http://www.modeltrainclub.org/free.html 😄 • • Constructing model railroad benchwork at an inappropriate height can have a bad impact on the operators and railroad operations. • Model trains will generally look most spectacular and realistic when operated close to eye level. If your benchwork is built too low, the tracks will also be too low. And, having really low benchwork can cause constant bending so as to access trains and accessories that are towards the back of the layout. Squeezing underneath the benchwork to fix or alter the wiring could cause additional problems. • Without being very short, or having a double-deck or other constraints, around 42 inches would be considered the minimum height for bench work. A height of around 48 inches OR HIGHER would normally be considered more practical, but that would depend on the height of the operator. • On the other hand; constructing the benchwork too high will cause other problems. The taller the benchwork, the more difficult it will be to stretch over and retrieve a derailed car from the track at the rear of the railroad. Your friends and visitors (children included) will be keen to view all the details without needing to haul themselves higher to see the train track.
