MG-63 Cell Line: • Sarcoma, while rare in adults, accounts for nearly 20% of childhood malignancies. Sarcoma is a cancer subtype that affects bones and connective tissues. Human cell lines are a staple of preclinical research as they can serve as models for drug evaluations including efficacy or toxicity of potential candidates. The MG-63 cell line was first established from primary bone tissue of a Caucasian male 14-year-old patient with osteosarcoma. MG-63 cells exhibit a fibroblast morphology and display high levels of interferon production after addition of actinomycin D, cycloheximide, and polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid. MG-63 cells are shown to express TGF-beta R I and II receptors and have demonstrated that they are suitable as transfection hosts. The MG-63 cell line has a hypotriploid karyotype and a 66 modal chromosome number. Altogen Biosystems developed a MG-63 pre-optimized transfection reagent kit for this osteosarcoma cell line: • https://altogen.com/product/mg-63-tra...
