Rare Police film about the infamous disastrous Tell City, Indiana crash on March 17, 1960, due to flutter caused by originally unexplained reduced stiffness of the engine mounts. This was subsequently defined as Whirl Mode. ; when the oscillations of the engines caused the tremendous strain, then failure, of the wing and attach points. Six months earlier, a Braniff International Airways L-188 Electra, Flight 542, disintegrated over Buffalo, Texas at 15,000 ft (4,600 m), killing all on board. By 1962, all Electras had been modified, and the problem ceased.
