Tools used: • https://amzn.to/3A4fslZ • Please shoot any questions and I will make a separate video responding to any questions I have answers for. • Japanese Black Pine Calendar • Late Winter: • Start to fertilize once you see the buds swelling • Here in the PNW, my buds started to swell • at the end of February • Fertilizer Schedule: • Feb 27th • March 30th • May 1st - Last application of fertilizer until Fall • Decandling: • June 20th • Date is chosen based on PNW’s growing season and how long I want • the new buds to grow. Earlier you decandle, you get longer needles and longer internodes. • The later you decandle, the shorter your needles and internodes will be. • Bud selection and fertilize: • Mid October - end of November • Once buds open up and harden off(needles are hard and pokey). You then select 2 buds • that are similar in size relative to the tree.
