CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK 8K UHD • • Capitol Reef National Park 8K UHD • Photographed 2015-2019, this time-lapse movie will take you to the beautiful Capitol Reef National Park in Utah, USA. • During my fourth visit to the area, in 2019, I was lucky to get to see the sunset over the gigantic 180-kilometre long geological feature called Waterpocket Fold. Driving on dirt roads for several hours to this very remote location finally paid off, as the sky was unusually clear, and the long S-shaped valley revealed its beautiful colors. I could see all the way down to Grand Canyon! • Staying there until the stars was shining, I was pretty lucky to have new batteries in my head lamp when going back to my car in the dark. Driving back to the village Boulder on dirt roads in the dark was quite an experience too. • Further north on Highway 24 towards Torrey, on top of Boulder Mountain, I captured the Milky Way rising over Capitol Reef, and right after the moon came up bright and shiny. With 20-30 seconds camera exposures and a f/2.8 lens, the moonrise looked like a sunrise. Speaking of the sunrise, I finally arrived the cozy Broken Spur Motel when the sun was rising, and could go to sleep, exhausted after a long day with driving, hiking and photographing. • The next day I explored the scenic drive and Capitol Gorge, and took a lot of photos around the Panorama Point area, before I went to enjoy a juicy beef at the Broken Spur restaurant. I've had my dinners there on all of my four visits to the area, and will definately go there again some time! • The third day, I was leaving Torrey and took a few shots near Fruita, when a threathening storm came in. Played back at 100x speed, you can clearly see the rotation of the storm cloud as it is passing by. • Later on, closer to Hanksville, I had set up my cameras to photograph the sunset over Henry Mountains, when a terrible sand storm hit me all of a sudden, with brutal force. I included a clip from the sunset at Factory Butte, just a few minutes before the sandstorm hits. Photos from this area, and the full story about the outcome of the sandstorm, will be released in a video later on.
