Flap barriers are high speed gates with excellent operating time. Infrared sensors, wing arms, reader and access control mechanism are the core components of a flap barrier. These are mainly used to control the flow of visitors like passengers or pedestrians at metro stations, or amusement parks, where tickets or token are acceptable. Theses high speed gates are commonly seen in metro stations. • Functions of turnstiles are very similar to flap barriers. They can be used to control pedestrian flow as well as monitoring attendances. They may or may not have ticket or token system. Turnstiles are not only cheaper, but also simpler than flap barriers. Despite the simplicity, they lack in speed as compared to flap barriers. • Advantages • Main advantages of flap barriers are to keep count of crowd. More over that it saves time because their operating time is very less. Flap barriers are also used to collect ticket and tokens in a systematic manner while charging an entry fee. Turnstiles can be used to keep count of visitors for security measures. More over this safety measure turnstiles used to maintain the queue because it does not allow two individuals enter at the same time. • Technical features: • Flap barriers are totally based on electronic systems and while the power is out, it remains open. That is why we can consider it normally closed system which uses power to remain closed and when tickets or another fee variants inserted to the system it allows one individual to cross. • Turnstile may or may not be electronic . These can be operated electrically and manually. These are the main difference between flap barriers and turnstile because flap barriers have to be electrical. Turnstiles can be seen at amusement parks, offices colleges and in those place where it is needed to control the flow of crowd at the entrance. • Both flap barriers and turnstile can be used at outdoors as well as indoors. • Key Features: These are made of stainless steel and smartpower products are made of high quality 304 grade stainless steel. ‘Safe from rain’. In smartpower automation, barriers are coated by silicone coatings. silicone coats provide resistance from dust and moisture that may damage circuits.. • Since flaps are mostly transparent and LED lit are added to those flaps, making it more noticable which makes great use at evening. Moreover, the flap barriers require no physical contact to open or close. But in case of turnstiles, the visitors need to push the tripod arm in order to make it rotate mechanically. • These can be used indoors and outdoors with shades • Flap barriers also comes with RFID (radio frequency identification). This feature is quite effective for restricted areas because frequency identifications are mainly issued by the companies for their employees as well as it saves more time. • These barriers can also be coupled with face recognition systems to make it more compatible that fits well in every sectors. • These systems are now being used in government sectors as well. They are needed to keep a count of individuals or visitors at institutions so these can be used with a visitor management software to keep a count of checkouts or check ins. • In a scenario a visitor scans his mifare RFID card on a flap barrier, the system immediately deducts the appropriate amount and shows the remaining balance on the LCD screen. Both flap barriers and turnstiles can work on either uni and bi directions. • Like flap barriers, turnstiles can also be coupled with access control to keep a track of visitors. Latest feature: nowadays flap barriers can be used with Mifare cards (more smart and innovative way on the go). • Types and operation: • On the basis of functionality three type of flap barriers are there p type, single lane and double lane. P type flap barriers are basically used to disable entry of carts and trolly , and can be operated done manually or electrically. P type barriers swings on an angle of 90 degree in both directions. Double lane flaps are the same as single lane but on double lane barriers there is an extra barrier on the other side is added to provide extra solution for for high volume pedestrian traffic. Double lane flap barriers are mostly used where there is heavy queues and less time. • On basis of functionality and characteristics there are three basic types of turnstile. Turnstile vertical tripod and turnstile bridge tripod are quite similar. Both are uni and bi-directional and automatic with drop arms. Both uni and bidirectional turnstiles have same speed as 35 persons per minute. Latest version of these two compatible with RFID reader and access control. Another type of turnstile comes with full height feature and it is used in factories or plants on a major scale. The main concern of using full height is regarding safety measurements. • • https://www.smartpower.co.in/ • [email protected] • +91 9831021270
