This is the Top Secret fly pattern created by Pat Dorsey, known for his midge imitations. This variation uses wire instead of thread and, of course, has a buggy look instead of a tight dubbing ball. While this pattern, like many others, was designed to mimic a specific fly, it’s versatile enough to be adapted to match any small fly in your waters. Not only is it easy to tie, but it’s also a great pattern to use in the fall and winter as you start sizing down your fly selection. On my waters, I like to switch it up a bit with olive and gold to represent Blue Winged Olives. • Good luck fishing this fall, everyone!
