Apple Galette • Dough • • 160g all-purpose flour • 1 tbsp sugar • 100g unsalted butter (cold) • Pinch of salt • 1 tbsp vanilla • 1 egg • Filling • • 4 large apples (peeled and sliced) • 1/3 cup brown sugar • 1 tbsp cinnamon • 1 tbsp flour • 3 tbsp water • 2 tbsp butter • For brushing • • 1 egg yolk • Brown sugar (to sprinkle) • Instructions: • 1. Prepare the dough: Mix all dough ingredients until you achieve a smooth texture. If needed, add more flour. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator to chill. • 2. Prepare the filling: While the dough chills, prepare the filling. Melt the butter in a pan. In a separate bowl, mix the apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and water. Add the apple mixture to the pan and stir well. Cover with a lid and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Remove the lid and let the apples cool. • 3. Assemble the galette: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Roll out the dough and spread the cooled apples over the center. Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, leaving the center exposed. • 4. Finishing touches: Brush the dough edges with egg yolk and sprinkle with brown sugar. • 5. Bake: Bake the galette for about 40 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
