A simple chord progression in E minor for this guitar backing track, but to mix it up I'm using 7/4 meter. This odd time signature is pretty easy to get, as it's still a quarter note pulse (represented by the 4 on the bottom of 7/4) so it has the same feel as 4/4, but there's a 7 count instead of 8 (over two bars). • Instead of counting to 4 for each bar count to 4 on one bar, then 3 on the next and repeat. This can be better than counting to seven for a couple reasons: first, seven is two syllables and it's far too easy to add that extra beat when saying sev-en out loud, even though you only counted to seven. Second, by breaking the count down into smaller groups, it's much simpler to plug in chords. In this track, my chord progression has one chord 4 counts, the next is only 3. But this is only one way to break it down! You can do any combination as long as it adds up to seven. • If you need more help understanding how this works, please feel free to message me and I can go into further detail. • Lots of potential ideas for this one, if you want to hear what I did with it, listen here: • / voidizms • Chord progression: • Verse: Cmaj7 / A minor / Em7 • Pre Chorus: Cmaj7 • Chorus: E / G / Cma7 / Am / Ab • Scales to use: • E minor pentatonic • E natural (Aeolian) minor • A dorian • • More backing tracks: • Hard Funk Em: • Heavy Funk Backing Track for Guitar i... • Straight Ahead Rock Em: • Groovy Rock Backing Track for Guitar ... • Ballad Rock (Slash Style) C: • Ballad Rock (Slash Style) Backing Tra... • Psychedelic Em: • Heavy Psychedelic Rock Backing Track ... • • Subscribe here: http://bit.ly/25thhDw • • SoundCloud: http://bit.ly/256Dq9n • Bandcamp: http://bit.ly/1TvD0pn • https://www.seanarmitagemusic.com • • Want a custom track tailored to your needs?
