http://htwins.net/ • Ok, more details because I was so brief in the video: htwins.net went down on July 21, 2018 for mysterious reasons, but we were told it was sending out spam emails, which was strange. I was too lazy to look into it right then and there, but today I decided enough was enough. Today, I found out that our website failed a performance check, which confused me because it's pretty lightweight and things load pretty quickly, and plus, nothing major has changed in the last 5 years. Well, we failed the test because web crawlers were free to roam the site as much as they wanted. Another point of interest was Edit the Text, Michael's project from 2012, where people could create new sites and post text there simply by typing htwins.net/edit/_whatever_. Maybe the web crawlers got obsessed with hanging around those tens of thousands of pages? Dunno. • Anyway, when I requested BlueHost to bring the website back up, they said there was a performance issue. I didn't know how to fix that, so I first 1) asked Michael to remove edit the text, 2) removed Elemental 3, and 3) added the robots.txt file that told web crawlers the rules. The third change fixed everything!
