How to remove acne scars instantly. • Acne scars can be removed within a few minutes with dermal fillers. • The trend from 2016 is to less fractional laser resurfacing, skin needling, microneedling and chemical peels and to transition to fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Bellafill (US approved). Fillers can only be used on atrophic, rolling and tethered acne scars. Chances are, if your scars disappear when they are stretched, they are a good candidate for fillers (AKA Dr Sandra Lee, Dr Pimple Popper comments- I totally agree). • Lasers, surgical procedures and TCA CROSS chemical peels can provide excellent correction of certain types of acne scars, however they are all associated with patient downtime ranging from 5 days to over two weeks Laser and energy devices such as Fraxel, co2 fractional skin resurfacing, erbium laser, ablative lasers, microneedling with PRP, Derma Rollers and even Dermapen can provide great outcomes for acne scars (mixed, rolling, atrophic, box car acne scars) • With filler technology extending beyond 2 years, or even longer with Bellafill, there is an increasing trend for patients to undergo this procedure over traditional methods of scar revision for several reasons- • 1. No downtime. Dermal filling is not associated with any downtime and can be performed as a ‘lunch time procedure.’ • 2. Results are instantaneous. Procedures such as TCA peels and fractional laser resurfacing- Fraxel require several treatments over many months to achieve similar results. • 3. Low risks- the risk of adverse side effects such as granulomas and allergies to dermal fillers are extremely small- less than 0.2%. • 4. Permanent results- in the US, Bellafill has had FDA approval for the treatment of acne scars, hopefully Australia will follow shortly, but for now, IMHO Juvederm Volbella is the stand out filler. • Can all types of acne scars be treated with filler? • Acne scars such as rolling, atrophic and tethered scars do best. • How many sessions will I need to treat my acne scars? • Depends. If you have only a few scars- one session of dermal filler, severe acne scars require several dermal fillers sessions. • Are the results permanent? • Yes, in some cases, using BELLAFILL, results can be ‘permanent’ or at the very least semi permanent lasting well beyond 5 years. • What is the downtime? • Nil, if performed correctly, results are instant, and you're back at work within 20 minutes. • Who should you see for acne scar filling? • A Board Certified Dermatologist or Plastics. As a guide, I perform 4-5 procedures per day, every day. This doesn't mean I am the best, but look at the before and afters from the Specialist. Never go by company photos, but look at their own work. Always go with a Specialist who can perform all procedures- lasers, fillers, peels, surgery- this gives you the best outcomes for your acne scars. • Thanks for watching, hope I helped you and remember to SUBSCRIBE! • Dr Davin Lim • Lasers and Lifts • Laser, surgical and aesthetic dermatologist • Brisbane, Australia • Upcoming website: • http://www.lasersandlifts.com.au • Realself reviews: • http://www.realself.com/find/Australi...
