Given the three data points (1,2), (3,2), (4,3), what is the line of best fit (a.k.a. linear regression line, a.k.a least squares line). If we assume y = b1*x+b0, then we can solve for b1 and b0 by minimizing SSE ( Sum of Squared Errors ). This is done using partial derivatives and finding the critical point.
