Liebe Freunde! • Überall stehen sie gerade wieder zu Hunderttausenden bereit, die frisch geernteten Fichten aus den Christbaumzuchtanstalten. Bald duftet es in Eueren Wohnstuben und Herzen nach Holz und Harz, nach Nadeln und Kerzenwachs. Und diese Freude will ich Euch natürlich nicht verderben.Trotzdem erzähle ich Euch heute meine kleine Weihnachtsgeschichte, die klingt ein bisserl anders. Sie handelt von Bäumen, mit denen ich zu tun habe in Österreich und in Schweden. Und davon, dass wir Land- und Forstwirte nicht mehr leben können von dem, was in unseren Wäldern wächst. Und unsere Bäume halten es auch nicht mehr aus, den Käfer, den Klimawandel und den ganzen Wahnsinn, der ihnen und uns von geplanten Verordnungen aus Brüssel droht. Soon, the scent of wood and resin, needles and candle wax will fill your living rooms and hearts. And of course, I wouldn’t want to spoil that joy for you. • Still, I want to share with you my little Christmas story today, which sounds a bit different. It’s about the trees I deal with in Austria and Sweden. And about the fact that we farmers and foresters can no longer make a living from what grows in our forests.
