The ocean was uncharacteristically clear that day, so Shaun and I took the opportunity to swim out to the wreck where we came across sea turtles, lots of colorful fish, and we even spooked a couple rays that were hidden in the sea floor! A lightning storm was rolling in from the North, and considering that the marker for the wreck is a giant aluminum pole, we swam back before either one of us was zapped by a lightning bolt. • The Beaconshire AKA the Boiler Wreck is located off the coast of South Beach in Vero Beach, FL. The wreck is located about 150 yards offshore, which makes for a moderate swim. But it can be quickly reached if one dons a pair of flippers, or better yet, takes a paddle-board. • More info on the wreck can be found here: http://www.shipwreckexpo.com/fleastbe...
