Ok, so I got a lot of feedback to do a video and here it is! It came out great! I didn’t add the green banana (masa) into it like I seen on a lot of videos I watched but I did take a little of every video and whipped this up! This video gave me alot of flashbacks when my grandma useto make pasteles. I can remember cutting pork and making pasteles. #thosewerethedays unfortunately she’s no longer here physically but I just had great memories come to mind when making this. I don’t remember a lot of her making the pastele filling which this reminds me a lot of but the flavor is definitely there ☺️ #pineappletophawaii #pastele #pastelestew #memories #hawaiieats #hawaiifoodie #hawaiianfood • Recipe: • 2.5-3lbs cubed pork (size up to you) • 1.5-2 large onions diced • 1 bunch cilantro chopped • 1 red bell pepper minced • 3 SAZON packets • https://amzn.to/3wGkxPC • 2 TBS ground cumin • 1 TBS garlic salt • 1 can tomato paste • 6 cloves garlic chopped • 1can olives • Annatto oil: optional (only for color not flavor) • SAZON packets has the annatto powder in them as well but if you want it to look more authentic you can add. • https://amzn.to/34R7Yqw • 1/4c oil , heat on med , when oil is hot add annatto seeds cover for 1 minute stir and immediately strain.
