Fleeing an arranged marriage to a man she doesn't love, In-hee (Jang Shin-Young) meets Gi-hyun (Song Il-Kook, Jumong), an aspiring musician whose most prized possession is his late father's saxophone. In-hee and Gi-hyun cross paths over the years and slowly fall in love. In-hee ends up in the radio business working for Young-jin (Lee Jung-Gil, Boys Over Flowers), a Korean national who supports the Japanese government in its occupation of Korea. As Gi-hyun s musical career begins to take off, he discovers that Young-jin is the same man who murdered his father many years before. As the tension builds, Gi-hyun is suspiciously sent to work hard labor at a coal mine in Japan. Upon the Japanese defeat in World War II, Gi-hyun returns home, full of revenge, to find his life turned upside down. • • Inainte de a juca in hitul international „Jumong , Song Il-Kook a fost actorul principal in „Oasis , o drama TV poetica si palpitatnta in acelasi timp, ce se desfasoara la inceputul anilor 1940, in timpul ocupatiei japoneze din Coreea. Fugind de o casatorie aranjata cu un barbat pe care nu-l iubeste, In-hee (Jang Shin-Young) il intalneste pe Kihyun (Song Il-Kook), un muzician ambitios al carui cel mai de pret avut este saxofonul mostenit de la tatal sau. In-Hee si Kihyun isi incruciseaza drumurile peste ani si incet, incet se indragostesc unul de celalalt. In-Hee ajunge sa lucreze la o statie radio al carui proprietar este Young-Jin (Lee Jung-Gil), un cetatean coreean care sprijina guvernul japonez din Coreea ocupata. Tocmai cand cariera muzicala a lui Kihyun incepe sa ia avant, el descopera ca Young-Jin este acelasi om care ii ucisese tatal, cu multi ani inainte. Tensiunea dramei creste cand Kihyun este in mod suspect trimis la munca silnica intr-o mina de carbune din Japonia. Pentru ca nu au nicio alta perspectiva si nu vad nicio iesire, ei se aduna in jurul statiilor de radio care pentru ei joaca rolul unei oaze in desert. • • Drama Oasis nu are drept subiect principal nici politica nici sentimentele nationaliste.
