Last week I went on a family holiday to the Isle of Wight, it was my first time coming here since 2001 when I last visited. During the holiday I was able to film some new content for the channel. • Whilst visiting towns I was able to find the excuse to film some of the new Class 484s on the Island Line. • The Island Line had previously been using 1938 Tube stock classified by TOPS as Class 483s. However the trains were over 80 years old and were becoming increasingly unreliable and spare parts were now hard to source. The line was in dire need of new trains, so in 2019 it was announced that a fleet of 5 Class 484s would replace the elderly 483s • The Class 484s are refurbished from London Underground D Stock, they still use the original bodies and chassis. But they have been fitted with WI-FI, power sockets and CCTV • The footage seen in this video was filmed over a few days. We went to a number of different stations and spots to film these trains.
