NEWS DESK | Israeli soccer star Moanes Dabour just received a huge contract to play in Spain, but it's his humble beginnings in Nazareth and his father's early passing and dream that motivate him to play at his best. Our Alec Pollard has the story. • Story: • He’s the most expensive Israeli soccer player in history. Arab soccer star Moanes Dabour grew up in the narrow streets of Bir Al-Amir in Nazareth, where his football talents developed from a young age. • 'Nazareth means a lot to me. I was born here; I grew up on these streets. I spent my childhood here. I spent my life with these people. It's a very personal experience for me to be here,' Dabour says. 'People who know me know I’m a family oriented kind of person, and i care about my town equally as much.' • • Dabour is visiting home from Austria, where he plays as a striker for Red Bull Salzburg. He also recently inaugurated a turf field in his hometown neighbourhood, where all the young players hope to be like him someday. • His brother, Anas Dabour, is also a professional soccer player, and they support each other all the way. • 'We used to hang out on the court and bring the balls to the players. I remember that to this day. Now, we've reached a really high level. Moanes plays in europe and we hope he will achieve greater and greater success,' Anas says. • But missing from his family life is his father, who died of a heart attack when Moanes was young. He wanted to be a soccer player, and his death gave Moanes the motivation to complete his father’s dream. • 'I imagine him looking down on me and feeling proud. I really miss him in these moments.
