In the 2020 National Electric Code, Article 230.67 stipulated the necessity of surge protection for all dwelling unit services. This mandate called for the installation of either a type one or type two surge protection device on the Dwelling Unit Service, which could be integrated into or positioned adjacent to the panel. By 2023, the same section of the code was revised to encompass service entrances not only for dwelling units, dormitory units, guest rooms, and hotel suites but also for areas within nursing homes or limited care facilities. The amendment also specified that the appropriate surge protection device must have a nominal discharge current rating (I sub n) of no less than ten KA, ensuring comprehensive protection across various residential and care facility settings. • https://p3-inc.com/ • ‪@OmahaContentMarketing‬
