Explains how to do simple calculations for the magnetic field generated by the current in a coil. Three worked examples show you how to calculate the magnetic field strength, the amount of current flowing through the wire and the length of the coil. • The magnetic field strength is directly proportional to the number of winding and the current through the coil. The magnetic field strength is indirectly proportional to the length of the coil. • Magnetic field lines show the strength and direction of the magnetic field around a magnet.
