Student Nurse Bootcamp Series 1 What To Bring To Clinicals

This new video series of mine will be to help you learn ahead of time things that will be presented to you during your first few weeks. My hope is just to give you a foundation before you enter nursing school for the first time...to help take the scared of the unknown away like I and my classmates had. Hope you like it! More to come in this series! • Items I mentioned in this video you should take to the clinical setting: • Must have.... • *Folder • *Printed out paperwork given to you from your instructor (probably through blackboard) • *Small spiral notebook to be kept in your scrubs pocket • *Pocket organizer (optional) with the following inside: • http://www.allheart.com/organizers/c/... • -Black pen • -Highlighter • -Pencil • -Penlight (for assessments) • -Black Sharpie • -Scissors • *Cash/card for lunch (refrigerator not always available) • *Stethoscope for assessments (BP cuff...we used theirs at the hospital) • *Watch with a second hand (preferably white wrist band) • *Extra hair bands/bobby pins etc • *Breath spray (Listerine pocket size) CANNOT have gum! • *Glasses if you wear them for reading etc • *Badge/student ID/CPR card put in plastic holder on a badge reel (lanyards not allowed) • *Bottle of water • Nice to have items: • *Tissues • *lip balm • *small snack (trail mix, cereal bar etc) • girl stuff (tampon/pad) • *small lint roller (can keep in car, but check uniform before you go in) • *travel size deodorant...you're nervous, get hot and sweat! lol • *calculator • *References to use for your assignments such as: • -Nursing Diagnosis Handbook • -Tabor Medical Dictionary • -Pocket guides etc. Get with your classmates so all of you are bringing all your books, a few people bring and you all share. • All of this fits in a small bag that I have designated just for clinicals, and most of it stays packed. I also pack my bag the night before and leave it by my door...great for when/if you're running late! That's one last thing you'd have to worry about. :) • Rate, comment and subscribe!
