What is the role of Prolactin in milk secretion ? • It is a 199 amino acid, single chain peptide of MW 23000 and releases from anterior Pitutary gland. Prolactin promotes secretion of milk. It promotes proliferation of ductal as well as acinar cells in the breast and induces synthesis of milk proteins and lactose. Dopaminergic agonists (DA, bromocriptine, cabergoline) decrease plasma prolactin levels, while dopaminergic antagonists (chlorpromazine, haloperidol, metoclopramide) and DA depleters (reserpine, methyldopa) cause hyperprolactinemia. • Prolactin acts on cell surface JAK-STAT protein kinase receptors. • detailed description of hormones. • This video may useful for 11th, 12th, Pharmacy, MBBS, BDS and other medical courses. • Hormone • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0uM0... • Growth hormone • • Growth hormone
