Tolkien's poem, The Dragon Is Withered! We hope you enjoy it:) • A note on our interpretation: • We took a different approach on this piece, trying to bring to it more of our staple “dwarven sound.” The piece is in 4 sections. Section one begins with a soloist, proclaiming the death of the dragon and then comes a hearty repeat of the same passage from the crowd gathered. The second section speaks of the strength and wealth of men, and therefore brings a more human touch in this passage, following the same structure as the first section. The third section speaks of elves, and so it moves to a different place. Finally, the fourth and final section is a repeat of the first section to recap the piece and to bring it to a more epic conclusion than if we had continued through the rest of Tolkien’s words. We are hoping to come back to this poem with a more literal approach soon, to do complete justice to the master’s work. We hope you enjoy this piece as much as we did creating it! • • We are unable to get permission to sell this song so we are posting it here free for your enjoyment. If you want a copy of the mp3, we are offering it to those who support us on Patreon! • • My brothers composed and arranged the piece. My family sang it. • • Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:) Thank you! • Lyrics: • The Dragon Is Withered • The dragon is withered, • His bones are now crumbled; • His armour is shivered, • His splendour is humbled! • The dragon is withered, • His bones are now crumbled; • His armour is shivered, • His splendour is humbled! • Though sword shall be rusted, • And throne and crown perish • With strength that men trusted • And wealth that they cherish, • Though sword shall be rusted, • And throne and crown perish • With strength that men trusted • And wealth that they cherish, • Here grass is still growing, • And leaves are yet swinging, • The white water flowing, • And elves are yet singing • Come! Tra-la-lally! • Come back to the valley! • The dragon is withered, • His bones are now crumbled; • His armour is shivered, • His splendour is humbled! • The dragon is withered, • His bones are now crumbled; • His armour is shivered, • His splendour is humbled!
