We often teach clients in sessions how to set and enforce boundaries with people in their lives. As therapists, it’s important that we set our own boundaries with clients to make the therapeutic relationship as healthy as possible. Boundaries therapists can set in their practice, including specific policies, writing down expectations in intake paperwork, and getting comfortable communicating these boundaries, can also help us prevent burnout and protect our own peace. • In today’s episode, I discuss the importance of setting boundaries with clients, give examples of types of boundaries you can (and likely should) set, ways to deal with client pushback, and tips for implementing boundaries. • • Check it out and subscribe above! • • Mentioned in Video • Simple Practice: https://www.simplepractice.com/ • CPT Code Resource: https://www.apaservices.org/practice/... • • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Contents of this video ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ • 00:00 Intro • 01:40 Attendance policy boundaries • 04:50 How client can communicate with you between sessions • 08:37 Talking about money/payments/balances with clients • 11:36 Setting a time boundary (when sessions end, schedules, lunchtime) • 18:27 What to do when you or your client is sick • 22:55 Pushback from clients • 27:57 Boundary setting tips • • • Welcome to The Keys to Therapy!
