One of the greatest defensive fighters of all time, James Toney makes the 2nd defense of his IBF World Super Middleweight Title against Tim Littles aka The Doctor of Style . Both fighters were undefeated at the time of this bout. • Prefight records; Toney 41(27)-0-2, Littles 24(15)-0. • In May 1991, Toney rallied from behind the scorecards to score a stunning 11th round knockout over then unbeaten Michael Nunn to garner the IBF World Middleweight Championship. • Between June 1991 and August 1992, Toney successfully defended his IBF Crown 6 times. • In February 1993, Toney decimated Iran Barkley over 9 rounds to bag the IBF World Super Middleweight Title in one of his best performances. 7 months after this win, he outpointed Tony Thornton over 12 rounds in his first defense. • His second title defense was set to be against similarly undefeated Tim Littles who had commendable wins over Antoine Byrd Frankie Liles. • As for Toney, he had beaten notable oppositions in Glenn Wolfe, Dave Tiberi, Tony Thornton, Iran Barkley, Glenn Wolfe, Merqui Sosa, Doug DeWitt, Reggie Johnson, Michael Nunn Mike McCallum. • Note: His victory over Tiberi was a highly disputed decision as most observers thought Toney clearly lost. • For the first 6 minutes, both fighters fought a good tactical fight and each man arguably bagged 1 round apiece. • In the third frame, Toney knocked down Littles and followed up with a barrage to finish him but an accidental clash of heads occurred towards the end of the round. It resulted in a very bad cut above his left eye • Toney was given 3 more minutes by the ringside physician before the bout will be ruled a TD. • Sensing the urgency, Toney rallied for the kill as the 4th round began and scored 3 more knockdowns en route to a stoppage by referee Pat Russell to retain his IBF World Super Middleweight Championship as well as his undefeated record. • The 4 knockdowns suffered by Littles were the very first 4 knockdowns of his pro career. • Enjoy this highlight of an awesome Lights Out performance by Toney, and SUBSCRIBE for more!
