According to description given in Vedas and Purans, Shri Dev Guru Brihaspati has long beard. He holds all the four Vedas in hand and these very Vedas are inscribed in the form of four saints surroundings the idol. His both arms have string of rudraksh and second hand has garland of rudraksh with posture of giving blessings. • According to Vedas and Purans Shri Dev Guru Brihaspati is considered as Advisory Guru of all Gods and Goddesses. He is considered as swami (master) of north east direction. Guru Brihaspati is yellow coloured and also known as swami of Rig-Veda. Being yellow in colour, there is importance of donating yellow fruits and flower's, turmeric and pukhraj etc. to get rid of all ill effects. • One thing is famous in scriptures that Guru Brihaspati is symbol of truth. As described in Vayupuran, Guru Brihaspati is son of Maharishi Angira and thus belongs to Angira gotra. Guru Brihaspati is calm and quiet by nature and has element of both fie and water. Shri Dev Guru Brihaspati is also known by the name of vachaspati, suri, devpurohit, guru maharaj, suracharya, devejya, ljya and angira. Guru Brihaspati rides an elephant which is a symbol of prosperity. • Jupiter (Brihaspati) planet (graha) has special importance in the horoscope. Education, marriage, politics, rajyoga, business, peace and harmony, foreign travel and in all these fields Jupiter has special importance. Among the navgraha (nine planets), Jupiter represents knowledge and intellect. Jupiter is one graha among navgraha and named as Guru of God and Goddess.
