Amazing yabbying in a tiny dam with meat and string

This was the best yabbying trip that I have had for years. I caught so many yabbies in such a short time. This is yabbying at its best, absolutely amazing! I kept around 10-12 very large yabbies and threw back a whole heap of smaller yabbies. • All of this action happened in a very small farm dam that is quite likely going to dry up in the coming months on private property. • If this dam does dry up the yabbies will either bury themselves into the mud of simply walk to another deeper dam nearby. • Now these yabbies are big, they are very big, but they are not the BIGGEST yabbies that you can catch. They do come bigger from time to time, particularly out west where dams are bigger and rainfall is less. • These yabbies are scientifically known as Cherax Destructor. Not to be confused with the Western Australian Marron which is Cherax Aldibus and grows a bit bigger. They are very similar species to each other but they are slightly different. Many people just refer to both species as Yabbies • Many American followers often refer to these as crawfish, or tell me that they are similar to crawfish. Crawfish are similar to yabbies, but there are quite a few differences. I will save that for another video. • Yabbying with meat and string, or in this case meat and fishing line is possibly the most primitive yet enjoyable form of catching yabbies. • #yabby #yabbies #yabbying
