Welcome to science at home in this experiment we are exploring copper electroplating by coating a nail with copper. Copper electroplating requires electricty to polarize a metal that will attract copper ions. Copper electroplating is used in jewelry and to help prevent corrosion. At the end of this episode you will be able to demonstrate copper electroplating, explain why the copper ions coat the nail and explain the process of copper electroplating. • Help support us to do more experiments by becoming a patron on patreon:   / thesciguys   • Equipment and Ingredients: • Water • Root Killer (Copper Sulfate) • Mason Jar with Lid • Kitchen Scale • Metal Cleaner • 2 AA Batteries • 2 Alligator Clip Wires • Electrical Tape • Non Galvanized Nail • Dust Mask • Goggles • Nitrile Gloves • Apron or Lab Coat • Previous Episode: Fermentation of Yeast and Sugar:    • Fermentation of Yeast   Sugar - The S...   • Next Episode: Pineapple Enzymes and Gelatin:    • Pineapple Enzymes and Gelatin - The S...   • Check out our website for more experiments, written explanations of the steps and the material list. http://www.thesciguys.ca • If you enjoyed the video remember to subscribe, comment and like us to show us you care. • Remember to like us on Facebook:   / thesciguys   • Follow us on Twitter:   / thesciguys
