An overview of the structure and function of the human pancreas - an endocrine AND an endocrine gland. The exocrine function involves the secretion of pancreatic juices in the duodenum via the pancreatic duct, which its endocrine function is mediated by the islets of Langerhans. These are comprised of alpha cells, beta cells, omega cells (also known as PP cells), delta cells and epsilon cells, which secrete glucagon, insulin, pancreatic polypeptide, somatostatin and ghrelin, respectively.
