It's been some time, but I'm finally uploading this.... • Batty Rap is a song in Ferngully, a song that's regarded as one of the scariest songs ever written for a children's film. As unsettling as it is, however, the final cut is nothing as compared to what the original sounded like, which included several unused verses and an entire sequence of dialogue that, I assume, was ad-libbed by Robin Williams. It's a great piece of work that, unfortunately, was too scary for the kiddos to put into the feature film, but you can still listen to it here: •    • Видеоклип   • (All credit for the upload of that YouTube video goes to KratosWriter.) • When I came upon the full song I was floored and wanted soon after to board it. After all, this was some grade A+ storyboard material that didn't even get drawn out. Had it been allowed to stay in the film in its entirety, what would the section of cut out dialogue have looked like on the screen? This animatic is my own, personal answer to that. • For those who are unfamiliar with the song, it's basically Batty talking about what life was like while he was a test animal in a laboratory. The dialogue bit which was cut out is of doctors and nurses doing various, unspeakable things to Batty and to other animals. I wanted to show what this situation might have looked like without directly showing anything graphic -- you don't see it, but you hear it and you feel it. The sequence is unsettling and gets pretty intense at one point, and I wanted to portray that visually. Hopefully, it translates well.
