Check out the Bauer Crawl on this little guy! Did your baby do this? The Bauer Crawling Reflex is important for our neurodevelopment as it plays an active role in the birthing process while the infant is moving right through the birthing canal. It helps get the two hemispheres of the brain working together. Each side of the brain has different functions. The right side of the brain helps us to understand emotions while the left side of the brain is more analytical and language oriented. Unless both sides work together simultaneously, a person will be very literal. They will miss the big picture or deeper meaning. Bauer crawling is a type of amphibian crawl which is done on the belly. It is a precursor to crawling on hands and knees. If babies skip this developmental milestone then they will also have gaps in their neurological development.
