In this video I cover how to inspect and clean a 2 Stroke 40HP Yamaha Outboard Carburetor without using an ultrasonic cleaner. Basically, I do a a disassembly and inspection and do a thorough cleaning of all the ports in the carburetor. Of special interest are the idle (low speed) and main jets. Yamaha carburetors are a bit different the your Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury carbs. They have a somewhat higher level of complexity, especially when it comes to the jets and the idle circuit. Even so, they can be cleaned without an ultrasonic cleaner. You can also use this video as a guide if you are going to rebuild your Yamaha Carburetors. • Here are a few affiliate links to some of the items I used in this video: • 24 Gauge copper Wire https://amzn.to/3zNN3PV • Gumout Carburetor Cleaner https://amzn.to/3cZEhV5 • For a collection of the tools and materials we use, Make sure to Visit our Amazon Affiliate Storefront: • https://www.amazon.com/shop/josesextr... • A Quick disclaimer, I am not an outboard technician. I do however do my homework and consult with experts when necessary before doing much of the work I do on outboards. Last of all, I get a service manual on the outboards I work on and a thoroughly familiarize myself on the area I am going to work on. • 00:00 Introduction • 00:55 Same Engine, Different Carbs • 01:38 Disassembly • 02:05 Inspecting Gasket and Needle Valve • 02:56 Removing Low Speed Jet • 03:48 Removing High Speed Jet and Cap • 04:54 Removing Top of Carburetor (Idle Circuit) • 06:05 Cleaning Body of Carburetor and Ports • 06:55 High Speed to Idle Fuel Port • 09:00 Cleaning the Jets • 10:47 Re-Assembling the Carburetor • 12:39 Correct Float Height • 14:32 Idle Needle Adjustment • • #OutboardCarburetor • #Yamaha2Stroke • #YamahaCarburetor
