Recovering Data from a Synology Diskstation using a PC

In the unfortunate event of a Synology NAS Hardware failure, you can still recover data from the Hard Drive RAID array using a PC. Follow along with this tutorial to potentially recover all your precious data with ease. • You will need a few things in order to complete this tutorial successfully. You will need a PC with enough SATA ports to cater for all the hard drives from within your Synology NAS unit. If your Synology NAS has 8 hard drives in a RAID or SHR array, you will need 8 free SATA ports on your PC motherboard. • You will also need a USB Stick with 8GB or greater of space. This is needed in order to install Ubuntu and have enough free space for Persistent storage.
