Dermoscopy for Scabies

We occasionally receive questions about using Dermlite dermatoscopes to help diagnose scabies. It's actually a fairly common practice now among dermatologists. For those who don't know, though, the answer is yes - dermoscopy IS a valuable tool in diagnosing scabies! • In this quick video, I show a few pics taken from patients using the Dermlite DL100. For those of you who know, the DL100 is not a high-end dermatoscope by any means. Both the Dermlite DL200 and the Dermlite DL4 offer larger lenses and brighter lighting. But..take a look at the video and you'll see that the DL100 does just fine! • So while you don't need an expensive dermatoscope to visualize the scabies mite, I would recommend you stick to using one with 10x magnification.
