We convert an MTB triple chainring to a single narrow-wide chainring getting rid of the front derailleur. Visit https://www.firstcomponents.com/narro... for a complete guide to narrow-wide chainrings. • The way we do this is by substituting the triple chainring integrated (spindle) crank with a single chainring crank. The narrow-wide chainring is mounted on this. • Getting the triple chainring crank out is easy enough. A 10mm allen wrench is all that's needed to loosen the crank bolt and remove it. Remove the pinch bolts with a 5mm allen wrench. The first step in removing the front derailleur system is release the cable bolt on the front derailleur unit. That frees up the cable. You need to remove the cable cap in order to remove the cable back through the opening in the bottom bracket area. Once the cable is clear, loosen the derailleur clamp bolt, take it right out so the clamp can open up and clear the seat tube. Once the derailleur cable is clear remove the hand grip from the handlebars loosen the brake lever bracket on the handlebars then remove that, leaving it attached to its cable. Loosen the shifter bolts (5mm allen wrench), remove the shifter, then slide the brake lever back into position followed by the grip. Adjust the brake lever (and other levers such as forks lock or dropper post) to your desired angle then tighten. • Installing the crank follows the same procedure for any integrated crank. Grease the spindle then install it into the bottom bracket. Slip on the arm, grease the bolt, install and tighten to around 1.5nM, then tighten the pinch bolts. Use a torque wrench set to around 13nM to tighten the pinch bolts to the correct torque. The way to do this properly is by tightening each bolt by 2 half-turns each in succession. The chain can now be reinstalled onto the new narrow-wide chainring
