We spotted a Golden Eagle near the North Nest earlier this week! How did we ID it? In this case, its golden nape was very obvious. But we tend to get calls and emails in June and July about 'Golden Eagles' that are really juvenile Bald Eagles, since Golden Eagles spend the summer far, far north of the Driftless. Understanding a species' behavior, seasonality, and body plans can help you identify it in flight or perched nearby! #GoldenEagle #DecorahNorth
