In this video, you can see the successful grafting of a ten-year-old walnut rootstock. This is my first attempt at grafting walnut outdoors and the result is satisfactory. Walnut is much more difficult to graft than other types of fruit for several reasons. The first reason is that higher temperatures are needed when grafting walnuts outdoors than when grafting most other types of fruit. The second reason why walnuts are difficult to graft is the leakage of juices when the tree is injured, and this excessive leakage of juices leads to grafting not being successful.
