Chopin's Nocturne C# minor is also known as the Lento con Gran Espressione or the Reminiscence Nocturne. It beautifully captures the melancholy essence of Chopin. • He wrote it in 1830 just after the failed Warsaw rebellion and sent it to his family. He was desperately sad and missed his country, friends and family. The middle section has quotes from several others of his pieces which his family would of course recognize. One is his song The Wish.
