The nation came together today to celebrate the life of Deputy Prime Minister, and member for Bulolo, the Late Sam Basil. • At 2pm today the casket of the Late DPM was brought to the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex for the State funeral. • Hundreds gathered to farewell the late Member of Parliament, who died tragically in a car accident along the Lae-Bulolo Highway last Wednesday evening, May 11. • The DPM died at the age of fifty-two. His close protection officer, First Constable Neil Maino died alongside him. Two families now unite in such a tragic start to the election of the ninth parliament. • DPM Basil was voted into office in 2007 under the People's Progress Party banner. Over the years his work and legacy kept him in parliament for two more terms.
