In addition, knowing about syllables will really help to improve your reading and it is absolutely essential if you want to start writing poetry. • -----[3:30] Counting Syllable Problems • Students of the English language might find the topic confusing because in English the syllable lengths are uneven, and that could be different from how syllables are organized in their native language. • • -----[4:45] How to Properly Count Syllables • So, let's talk now about the solution... How do we make counting the number of syllables in words easy to understand? There are two factors - sound exploration and syllable breaks. • • -----[5:20] Practise counting syllables • -----[5:24] Open Syllable Examples • This means that the vowel in the word is not followed by a consonant sound. For example, in the word ‘see’, the ‘e’ it's not followed by a consonant sound. If it was followed by a consonant sound ‘seed’, that would make it a closed syllable.
